We are now in final countdown mode as we depart tomorrow. We are still concerned with the escalation in the price of diesel fuel. Last year we paid between $1.32 and $1.59 cpl, this year it looks like the cost will be between $1.70 and $2.20cpl. “I wish my salary had gone up by that much!”
Overall, our fuel bill will rise by just over 30% but when you consider the value you get by seeing Austalia from ground level (if you fly you can see and not touch), the cost is really unimportant in the big picture.
“Blue Snoopy” is ready to go with the only outstanding items being the mandatory checking of all the tyres (always remember to check the spare and add a couple of extra pounds in pressure), engine oil and the level of “other” fluids in the engine bay. Clothes are packed, non perishable food is stored and the fridge is on. Final packing of food tonight, departure tomorrow.
As has been the case in the past, weather forcast for Sydney includes the “rain” word. We need to approach the Sydney water authority as every trip we make results in Sydney getting considerable rain and storage levels rise. We are more than happy to consider a financial arrangement that encourages us to have a holiday every so often as based on historical records, storage levels at the dams will rise. Given the right circumstances, the desalination plant could be scrapped and some of the funds diverted to pay for our diesel.
Who do we need to speak with?
