Thursday 5 March 09 – Lake Cargelligo to Rankins Springs

We had what must be one of the best nights sleeps since owning a motor home as the temperature was perfect and we both slept soundly. The alarm sounded at 6.30am and we were both up quickly to prepare for a new day. “She” attended Tai Chi at 8.30am whilst “He” went for a walk to photograph the lake and all of the motor homes parked around the oval.

After the morning UHF radio call, we shared morning tea before departing around 11.00am. We had a quick stop at a local bakery before commencing our 68 kilometre trip to Rankins Springs. Once again the wind was exceptionally strong with fuel consumption sitting around the 17.5 litre per 100 kilometres. We refuelled at Rankins Springs, had lunch in the motor home and relocated back to the local golf club that would be the venue for our overnight stop.

We had a couple of quiet hours in the motor home and “He” continued to watch LOST whist “She” took the opportunity to have a rest.

Happy hour was shared at 4.00pm before we attended an excellent dinner in the club house that was cooked by the locals. After dinner, entertainment was provided by several of the safarities and one of the locals entertained us with his bag pipes. An auction took place at dinner and we raised a few more dolloars for the RFDS results of one of “Her” bags being sold. Unfortunately the time and materials required to produce the bags was not reflected in the price achieved at auction. The next time we attend one of these functions, we will be reluctant to donate craft for auction as the majority of people do not appreciate what is involved to produce the craft.

We headed to bed just before 11.00pm.
