We awoke to an overcast morning and a prediction of rain. Today was Day 1 of the safari with the participants required to arrive during the day. We had also decreed the day as a “nothing” day. We intended to “veg” out and “He” intended to totally clear his mind of work. This we did successfully and several bourbon & coke had nothing to do with it!
The prediction of rain was correct with several very heavy storms passing over us. Actually it hardly stopped raining all day and the caravan park became very muddy. As the day progressed, the participants on the safari arrived and were greeted accordingly.
We had our first official happy hour and then travelled by bus to the local bowling club for the evening meal. We were presented with our name badges, back packs, shirts and a number to be placed on the motor home. By the time we left the club, the rain had stopped.
We also learnt that the Caravan & Motorhome Magazine would be doing an article on the safari and a photographer would be travelling with us for part of the trip.
