It did not rain overnight but we woke to a dull day with fog surrounding the race track.
There was no significant improvement with the ground still wet and muddy.
We started the day with a community breakfast and then waited for news of the time that the races were to start. First news regards the races was an announcement saying that the track would be inspected at 10:30am with racing to start from midday.
Then, just after 10:30am the announcement was made that we had not expected. For the first time in 15 years, there would be no camel racing at Boulia, however, the planned entertainment would continue over the next day and a half.
At midday our leader was informed (apparently by the local Police) that severe weather was expected in the area and we made an immediate decision to depart. More rain in Boulia could possibly result in our safari being stranded.
In just over an hour, we had packed and attached the car and were on our way to a free camp at Dajarra which was approximately 140 kilometers north towards Mount Isa
Within a couple of kilometers of Boulia, we experienced further problems with the truck and that continued with regular frequency to Dajarra.
We setup our camp and left the car attached. Some of our group was fortunate to have power but we were happy to free camp.
Frustrated with the Iveco, “He” decided to call Iveco assist and shortly afterwards, received a call from Iveco at Townsvillle. After discussing the problem it was suggested that the battery be disconnected to see if that solved the issue. We were also told that the problem may be the result of a faulty sensor with the computer reacting as if the problem was real. The Iveco Technician provided us with a mobile number should we need further assistance.
The battery was disconnected and reconnected about 30 minutes later. We did not start the vehicle. Running repairs were made on some of the vehicles and a deflated tyre on one was removed and checked for a puncture before being inflated and reinstalled back on the vehicle.
We enjoyed happy hour and then had cold chicken for our evening meal. We watched a couple of videos and enjoyed a good sleep.
