We slept in. We planned it and we did it and we enjoyed the extra time asleep!
We had chosen 10:00am as our departure time and close to that time we all jumped into our Suzuki and headed to Sapphire where the Sunday markets were running.
We spent about an hour at the markets and the only damage to our budget was a jar of jam. Next we headed to “Pat’s”, a spot where you could purchase gravel and search for your own sapphires. We pooled our funds and purchased six buckets of gravel and the four of us spent the next hour or so looking for the allusive gem to make our fortune. Needless to say, none of us found “the big one” but we did have fun looking and we all came away with small sapphires that we had found.
We had a quick lunch at “Pat’s” and then headed to the “Miners Heritage” at Rubyvale where we experienced an underground tour of a sapphire mine. We also spent a little time exploring the area before returning to the caravan park for happy hour.
Our travelling companions had invited us for dinner and we provided some chicken which had to be cooked as it had reached its expiry date. A couple of days earlier we had to throw away ten dollars worth of chicken pieces that had gone off. Our companions provided goulash that was cooked in an Eco Pot and the food was fantastic.
After dinner we returned to the motorhome and washed our dishes and “He” spent some time working on this blog.
At 9:45pm we received a telephone call from our son telling is that they were about to take our Grandson to hospital as he was having problems breathing. We asked our son to message us and several hours later we learnt that he was OK but would be held at the hospital overnight.
What was intended to be an early night turned out to be a very late one.
