It was a warm and clear day with no wind when we readied ourselves to depart Port Pirie. Rather than driving directly to Adelaide, we decided to travel via the Clare Valley. We last visited the Clare Valley in 1976 when Clare was a very quiet country town.
To get to Clare we had to cross the southern part of the Flinders Ranges which impacted on our fuel consumption as every time we climbed, we descended then climbed again.
We stopped in Clare for morning tea (brunch) before continuing on to Adelaide.
Just short of Adelaide we saw what appeared to be a very bad accident with a car on its roof and a varied of tools and ladders scattered all over the place. We can only hope that the driver was not injured.
Wen we returned to the caravan park, we were allocated the site adjacent to the site we previously camped on. The site was far from ideal as the sand was soft and we virtually had to lower the front of the caravan to the ground to get it level. When we found out our friends had been given another cabin further away from us, we asked for a site closer to them and moved. We were given a site with a concrete base and our second setup that afternoon was swift and easy.
We had our evening meal at the café attached to the caravan park.
