14 May 2014 – Adelaide to Renmark S

We knew that this day would arrive as we have enjoyed the company of our two friends for almost the past two weeks.  Since they arrived in Adelaide, we have visited the Barossa Valley, travelled north to Wallaroo, crossed Spencer Gulf by ferry, followed the seafood trail around the Eyre Peninsula, retuned to Adelaide where we visited the Adelaide Hills and finally the Adelaide CBD.

So it was with a degree of sadness we said our goodbye before we left the caravan park to start our journey home.  Our friends would be back in Sydney later today.

As we headed towards the road that would take us to Renmark, we noticed thick black smoke coming from Adelaide airport.   As quick as the smoke started, it stopped and we still have no idea what was the cause.

The weather was almost perfect for our trip to Renmark with little wind and warm temperatures.

We stopped near Kingston on Murray to visit wine maker, Banrock Station where after tasting several wines, we purchased a small supply of their wonderful wine that we would (attempt to) take home.  We also joined their “no commitment” wine club that offers significant savings on the normal retail price.  They also have several wines, including two blended wines, that are only available from the cellar door.

We stopped at McDonalds at Renmark where “He” managed to trip on a poorly marked step.  Fortunately no damage was done but we were both shaken from the fall as it shows how easy it is to have an accident.

Finally we reach our overnight stop on the Murray River at the Big4 caravan park.  We have stayed at this caravan park before and enjoy its location on the banks of the Murray River.  After setup, we took a short drive to purchase groceries and refuel the Nissan.

We watched sunset over the Murray River before locking ourselves inside the caravan for a relaxing evening.
