After a warm night (we slept under our summer blanket), the alarm sounded at 6:00am and we made our preparations for an early departure. Even though we were told that the caravan park was fully booked, there were many empty sites. We felt sorry for four girls camping adjacent to us as they slept in swags on the concrete slab. “He” was very conscious of making noise as one of the swags was less than a metre from our water tap and drain. There was even more concern with the fumes from the Navara when it was started as the exhaust was pointed directly at the girls. Nevertheless, we left close to 8:00am with Hay our intended destination.
As you would expect, we did not see any police presence in Mildura or any of the surrounding towns.
We made good time to Balranald in perfect driving weather (no wind!) where we stopped at a bakery for morning tea. We continued to Hay and arrived there at 12:30pm. After refuelling we decided to continue on for another couple of hours and stay at Narrandera. A quick call was made to the caravan park to make certain that space was available. After stopping for lunch at a roadside rest area, we completed the journey to Narrandera with a crosswind impacting slightly on fuel consumption.
We made a quick stop at Coles to purchase some essential groceries and then headed to the caravan park where we had the option of choosing any site we wanted. We chose a site that allowed us to keep the caravan hitched to the car.
We were unable to receive television reception so “He” setup our satellite dish. Sometime ago we purchased a portable automated satellite dish, “Snipe”, and it only took a moment for the Snipe disk to locate the correct satellite and provide us with an exceptionally good picture.
For the second night in a row, we had steak for our evening meal. We watched television for a short time before swapping to a DVD. It was still warm and we slept under a light blanket.
