It rained for most of the night but we managed to sleep through. The rain had stopped by the time we readied the caravan for departure but the weather looked threatening.
“He” spoke with a staff member from the caravan park who said that she had received a call from a customer heading in their direction asking if it was worthwhile travelling due to the gale force winds. At that time it was relatively calm in Elliston.
We departed just after nine wondering where the “gale force” winds were as we were expecting a tail wind for most of the trip.
Not far from Elliston it started to rain and the rain was followed by wind. Unfortunately the wind was not a tail wind but a very strong cross wind and a head wind at times.
We drove to a small town called Cleve where we stopped for a late morning tea. Cleve is an RV friendly town and there were several RV’s camped in the local showground.
The wind intensified after leaving Cleve and really made driving unpleasant. To make matters worse, the wind increased our fuel consumption dramatically.
After stopping at a Jade retailer in Cowell, we finally arrived at Whyalla and headed directly to the caravan park where we were staying. Our site was wet from rain but we managed to locate the caravan door adjacent to a concrete slab.
We had more rain after arriving and the rain impacted on our sightseeing trip around Whyalla.
We had our evening meal at the Sundowner Hotel and that was very enjoyable. After returning to the caravan “He” watched the end of the Swans V Hawthorn Game on television and went to bed with a smile on his face as the Swans won.
