12 November 2014 – Cessnock NSW

We were up early to provide breakfast for our group.  “He” cooked the bacon, “She” cooked scrambled eggs and one of our friends cooked the fried eggs.  Needless to say, breakfast did hit the spot and was enjoyed by all.

The men decided that a visit to “Potters Brewery” at Cessnock.  One of our friends made a generous gesture and offered to drive.  Shortly thereafter, five of us headed to the brewery.

We actually spent a couple of hours there and sampled all of the beers that they brewed.  Whilst we paid for most of the beers, the brewery staffs were very generous in providing numerous samples for us to try.  Several of us brought beer that will be enjoyed over the coming days or weeks.

After returning to our campsite for lunch, we headed into the Hunter Valley Wine region.

We stopped at Hunter Valley Gardens to check the prices for their Christmas Lights ($25ph entry – no discounts for seniors or pensioners).  We also visited the shops nears the gardens where we purchased a Christmas decoration in the form of a caravan with internal lights.  We always try to buy one new “special” decoration every Christmas.

We also visited the Hunter Valley Chocolate Company where we enjoyed afternoon tea (fantastic ice coffee) before purchasing a few sweets for ourselves and also for one of our group.

We returned to our campsite for happy hour and then a sausage sizzle.  We all slept well that night.
