We awoke to a fine day with the forecast of temperatures in the mid twenties.
Our pack-up process was flawless and we departed at 9:00am as planned.
First task of the day was to refuel and much to our surprise, we could not locate a Coles Express “Shell” outlet in Cowra. It was like déjà vu when we recalled we have once in the past looked for a Coles Express in Cowra before finally refuelling in Young. Having no desire to go anywhere near Young, we refuelled at a Mobile Service Station on the western side of the Lachlan River.
Deciding the ignore our GPS that was telling us to take numerous left hand turns, we headed down the Olympic Highway which we knew would take us to the Harden turnoff and then Binalong.
We received several telephone calls from “His” Sister regards an unpaid electricity account (Energy Australia – you might know how to deliver power but you know very little about customer service) and due to the distraction of these calls, we soon found ourselves in Young, the last place we wanted to be.
Deciding to follow the directions being given by the GPS, we then found ourselves on a remote country road heading in the general direction of our destination. Whilst travelling on this road we had the final call with “His” Sister when “He” made the statement that “we are not lost, we just have no idea at all as to where we are!”
Thanks to our GPS (with maps that are now four years old that we need to update), we did find Harden and then Binalong, our destination for the next four nights.
We said our “hello’s” to members of the CMCA chapter who had already arrived and then picked a site we thought suitable to provide sufficient light for our solar panel as there was no power available.
Later that afternoon we joined in a happy hour before “He” cooked chicken schnitzel and sliced potatoes for tea. With salad, the evening meal was excellent.
