12 May 2015 – Lithgow (Lake Lyell) to Wellington NSW

We had the alarm set for 7:00am but we were well awake at that time.  We quickly fell into the morning caravan routine and were well prepared to leave by 9:00am, our planned departure time.

Today we travelled in a convoy, first returning back to the Great Western Highway at Lithgow and then headed to the small town of Lucknow where we stopped for morning tea.

After leaving Lucknow, we took the high vehicle detour route and bypassed Orange before taking a “back road” through to Wellington.  This road was fairly narrow, undulating and windy but with little traffic, we travelled swiftly through to the Mid Western Highway just short of Wellington where we turned left and then headed to Wellington Caves, our planned overnight stop.

After going through the check-in process, we quickly did our setup.  We were unable to find a television signal, others could, so we decided to use our satellite dish.  Soon we had 107 channels.

We refuelled the Nissan in Wellington and were surprised to only pay $1.29cpl for diesel.

Later in the afternoon the remaining two members of our group arrived and we all shared happy hour.

We cooked pork for tea and then settled in front of the television for Masterchef.
