2 June 2015 – Cowra to Blackheath NSW

Knowing that three of our group were heading home today, we were up early to bid them farewell.

It was very cold when “He” left the caravan to see if anyone was ready to go.  Before checking on the other, “He” had a quick look at our fresh water hose, it was frozen.  Knowing that it would take time for the water in the hose to melt, the hose was disconnected and placed at a position where the rising sun could melt the contents.  Whilst disconnecting the hose, “He” forgot to turn the tap off but that didn’ t matter, the pipes in the caravan park were frozen.

After saying farewell to one of the couples, we headed back into the caravan for breakfast.  It was whilst we were sitting at our table that we heard water running outside.  The caravan park pipes had thawed and water from our tap had started to flood the area around the caravan.  The tap was closed very quickly and an apology was offered to the park owner before we departed.

It took ages for most of the ice to melt in our hose and it would be later in the day when the remainder of the ice was removed.

The remaining six rigs left Cowra around 9:30am and headed towards Bathurst in convoy.  The trip to Bathurst was uneventful and we stopped at a roadside parking area for morning tea.

We arrived at Blackheath just after midday and after doing our final setup for the trip and enjoying lunch, we all headed to the Megalong Valley tearooms where we enjoyed afternoon tea.  We had happy hour in the camp kitchen and used the opportunity to hold a quick committee meeting.  As the sun set, it became very cold.

We had dinner together before departing for our final night in the caravan before returning home.
