In 2013 we had the pleasure of attending the National Muster of the Australian Caravan Club that was held at Mudgee in NSW. In 2014 having just returned from South Australia, we could not justify the expense involved in travelling back to Lucindale for the 2014 National Muster.
The 2015 National Muster was held at Beaudesert in Queensland so we decided to attend and travel there with the Sydney Branch of the ACC in a tagalong.
Details of the tagalong follow;
6 October
We met other members of the tagalong at Wingen Showground. On a very hot October day, we managed to freecamp under shade. The local hotel provided amber refreshments in the afternoon and we also had our evening meal there.
7 October
We travelled through to Bingara (north of Tamworth) we were free camped alongside the Gwydir River. We took a change and actually camped very close to the river. In saying so, we were very conscious of the chances of the river rising should there be rainfall to the east. Thanks to technology we were able to keep a watch on the weather.
8 October
We moved to Warwick and stayed at a caravan park. This gave us the opportunity to refill water tanks and dispose of black waste.
9 October
We moved to Beaudesert and joined several hundred other ACC members for the National Muster.
10 – 18 October
There is so much to record about the National Muster that I could almost write a book. In summary we attended many seminars, evening entertainment, numerous long happy hours and later evening meals, a trip to the Gold Coast where we enjoyed the Outback Spectacular and a day trip to Tambourine Mountain. We also won the major raffle at Woolworths (they were supporting the Children’s Foundation) plus several other prises during the Muster.
19 October
Due to an arranged visit by an insurance assessor at our home, we drove to Tamworth to “overnight” before returning to Sydney. We avoided a storm at Tamworth and enjoyed our evening meal at a chinese restaurant close to the caravan park. We slept well.
20 October
We arrived home just after lunch. Our trip was quick and uneventful.
