We would be fair in saying that we did not have a good night’s sleep. Being close to the road, we heard every vehicle that passed and also several that came into the rest stop during the night. In reality, there was not a lot of traffic after sunset but what traffic there was were mostly trucks and they were noisy. We also kept the caravan fully closed so it was hot.
Nevertheless, we did sleep longer than what we do at home so we awoke refreshed when the alarm sounded.
We departed just before 9:00am for the 50k leg into Cobar where we refuelled. During the 50k leg, we had a kangaroo cross the road about 100m in front of us and we also encountered an idiot driver passing a caravan as he approached the crest of a hill. We were travelling in the opposite direction and had to brake to avoid an accident. They won’t learn!
Our overnight stop was at Wilcannia at a caravan park called “Warragong on Darling”. We stayed at this caravan park a year ago and decided that a return visit was warranted.
The park has been expanded in the past year and we were fortunate to be located together.
The park management hosted happy hour and provided excellent nibblies.
Being on power, we were able to recharge “everything”.
Much to our surprise, we even had television reception.
