Our stay in Broken Hill was pleasant and with the exception of one museum, we have virtually visited every tourist attraction in the area.
Last night was warm and we spent most of the night sleeping under a sheet. It was also the best sleep we have both had since leaving home.
We left our campsite just after 8:30am. We had an idea it would be windy but we had no idea how windy it would be.
From the moment we left Broken Hill until our arrival in Peterborough, we drove directly into the wind or at best, a cross wind coming in at about 45 degrees. Today we had our worst fuel consumption since having an RV. Thanks to the wind, we returned 23 litres per 100k’s for the trip. Had the price of diesel not been around the $1.15 per litre, it would have been a disaster.
We had to stop at a small town called Yunta to refuel as the wind reduced our range to just over 300k’s. Or trip today was just under 290k’s.
Roadkill was also a feature of the trip today. We lost count of the number of kangaroos that had been killed with many very close together. Some was also very recent but we did not see a single “live” kangaroo during our trip.
We arrived at the Peterborough caravan park in the mid afternoon and “She” was able to catch-up on some washing. “He” paid a quick visit to “Steamtown” and booked us in for the “Sound & Light Show” tomorrow night.
After happy hour we all headed into our RV’s. It was very cold and for the first time since leaving home, we started a heater in the caravan.
