It rained overnight but just enough to settle the dust.
Our plans today revolved and resupplying groceries preparing for our trip north. We had also hoped to purchase a bracket for a light on our car that broke during our visit to the Flinders Ranges.
With friends we were in the car at 10:00am heading to the local Nissan Dealer. Needless to say they did not have the part but were able to provide the part number. Later “He” would call a Nissan Dealer in Darwin and order the part which would have to be air freighted into Australia.
Second stop was at a camping store where we hoped to purchase a taller step for our caravan. We had no luck but were able to purchase a 5 litre water container that we had not been able to locate in Sydney.
Last stop for the morning was Coles where we “stocked up”.
After lunch we attempted to get a gas bottle filled at a site (Stratco) that we had been told charged $18 for a 9kg bottle. Price today, $28.00. The local Mitre 10 wanted $28.50.
We purchased 14 litres of diesel that will be stored in the Nissan for emergency use.
After returning to the caravan park, “He” did a quick wash of the car. Although it is not clean, the dirt and mud that could be transferred to clothing has now been removed.
The entire group got together for happy hour when we listened to a recording made by the Australian surveyor, Len Beadell. It was appropriate to share the recording with the group as we will soon be heading in the direction where Len became famous.
We had a BBQ for tea followed by a few liquors with friends.
