15 June 2016 – Lassiter Highway Free Camp to Alice Springs NT

We had a good sleep and were up at 7:00am with the intention of an early departure for our 340klm drive to Alice Springs.  As there was not a lot to do, we were ready to leave before 8:30am.

As hoped for, there was little traffic heading on our direction.  We did pass a number of Winnebago and Avida motorhomes that were participating in a safari from Port Augusta to Darwin.

Arriving at Erldunda for fuel, we had to queue and wait.  The roadhouse was exceptionally busy.  We had intended to have coffee at Erldunda but due to the volume of people there, we elected to continue our trip.

We did eventually stop at Stuart Well for a rest break and coffee before continuing on to Alice Springs and our destination where we arrived just before 1:00pm.

We had some issues getting our vehicles onto our allocated sites.  Unfortunately when the booking was made, we were not asked about lengths of the RV’s, we should have.  As a result of this oversight, the sites allocated were small.  In hindsight, we should have stayed in another park where we knew that the sites would be adequate.  We will know next time!

After we sorted the sites and setup our caravan, we headed into Alice springs for some shopping.  We had some drinks upon our return and we all retired for an early evening.

During our evening drinks, we were also to book accommodation at both Katherine NT and Broome WA.  Broome was difficult but it looks like we have secured five sites
