19 June 2016 – Alice Springs NT

The sky was clear when we opened the door but the water on the road in front of our van is still there.  Damage seems to be an issue in parts of this park.

With the van now totally dry “He” had a good look at the outside.  Yes, we have quite a lot of damage.  The damage can be repaired and we are grateful that we safely survived the storm when considering we were driving when the storm hit and visibility turned to zero.  We could have been or could have caused a serious accident.

“She” managed to do a couple of loads of washing as soon as we got up.

After breakfast we drove into Alice Springs to attend the Todd Markets.  The river has stopped flowing and the clean-up is well underway.  Life has returned to normal for the residents.

Before returning to the caravan park we purchased perishables for our trip north and refuelled.  Diesel was $1.26cpl and we expect prices to rise again until we reach Darwin.

We spent the afternoon in the caravan park where further washing was done and the rear of our car was cleaned to remove dust and water.

We enjoy happy hour before retiring for tea and preparation for our departure.  We also cooked another loaf of bread.  We think we are on a winner with our new bread maker.
