Three of our friends are located close to each other in the caravan park, we are located at the other end of the park. We have a long way to walk to the amenities however, we are not blocked in and we have a view across the mud flats and are able to see the movements of the tide.
We set the alarm for 7:00am and had trouble getting up. Whilst the night had been a little warm, we both slept well.
There is not a lot to see in Derby so a quiet day was planned. “He” had managed to get a seat on a light plane for a trip to the Horizontal Falls. We also planned to have an evening meals with our friends who were departing.
After a visit to the Derby Mitre 10 stores, we managed to find a café that claimed to have the best coffee in Derby (we now think it was the only café as the coffee was lacking).
We returned to the caravan park for lunch prior to “His” flight.
The flight was arranged through North West Bush Pilots and included flying over the Horizontal Falls and the Buccaneer Archipelago. “He” was in the air for a little over 1½ hours. Whilst the falls were spectacular, the highlight of the flight was the archipelago. As we have said before, this part of Australia is a scenic wonderland.
We were able to arrive at the restaurant for our evening meal just as the sun was setting over the Derby Jetty. We have some great pictures. We had an enjoyable meal with the evening concluding with a farewell to our friends who have to return home. Our thoughts will be with them and their family in this time of need.
