1 August 2016 – Geraldton WA

The night was cold and we had to add another blanket to our bed to cover our feet.  The temperature was 8 degrees when we opened the door and looked at what appeared to be a perfect day.

“He” started the day by checking and then adding pressure to all of our tyres.  The tyre that had lost some pressure a couple of days ago appeared to be holding pressure.

At 9:30am we collected friends and headed into Geraldton.  First stop was to drop the girls at a Spotlight store whilst the boys headed to a Camec reseller where several parts were purchased for our caravan and the motorhome of our friends.

After collecting the girls, we stopped at a car dealer to look at the latest offering from Suzuki.

Next stop was the memorial for the HMAS Sydney II that was sunk off the coast from Geraldton almost 75 years ago.  We were lucky and received a guided tour of the memorial from a local volunteer guide.

After the tour concluded, we headed to Fisherman’s Wharf where we enjoyed fish and chips for lunch.

We then did some local sightseeing without the aid of a map which mysteriously disappeared from the back seat of the car.  The sightseeing included Separation Point and the Point Moore Lighthouse.  Without the aid of our missing map, we did find our way back to our campsite for happy hour.

After happy hour we returned to the Sydney 2 memorial just after sunset.  We were able to photograph the memorial with its dome laminated and we also were able to photograph Geraldton with the sky lit with the final rays of the setting sun.

We had a very light evening meal.  With little to watch on television and the temperature dropping, we had an early night in bed.
