With the combination of having committed to purchase a new car and a poor weather forecast for the next week in the area we intended to visit, it was not difficult to make a decision to start to return home.
In making that decision we decided we would not travel directly home but would do so via the Australian Capital Territory where we would have the opportunity to catch-up with several friends.
It was dry when we ventured out of the caravan door but cold. The temperature was 3 degrees with no wind chill evident. The clouds to the south looked a little threatening but we crossed our fingers that we would be on the road before any rain started.
And that was the case.
Our first detour on our journey home would be to Shepparton and that would give us the opportunity to have another look at the SPC Factory outlet store. We had the choice of two routes, one via Daylesford and Bendigo, the other via the outskirts of Melbourne. Deciding it would be safer on a motorway if the weather was poor, we chose the Melbourne option.
Other than trying to understand how some traffic lights worked when entering the ring-road on the outskirts of Melbourne, we had an uneventful trip to Shepparton and arrived there in the early afternoon.
We had booked into a caravan park on the outskirts of town and shortly after setting ourselves up, we were on the way to the SPC Outlet shop where she was able to purchase some special items that were a lot cheaper than we could purchase in Sydney. The weather looked threatening but it did not rain.
We had our evening meal in a hotel close to the caravan park before returning for a quiet night watching television.
