29 April 2017 – Gundagai NSW to Canberra ACT

We awoke to fog.  In fact, we drove from Gundagai to Yass before the fog finally lifted.

There was very little traffic on the road and we had sufficient visibility to travel at a reasonable speed.

We stopped in Murrumbateman to see friends who had travelled with us last year.  We spent a couple of hours with them before continuing our journey to the Alivio Tourist Park located near Black Mountain.

Based on previous experience with difficulties in getting the caravan level, we had some reluctance in staying there but decided it was the best of a bad lot.  We considered staying at Exhibition Park but we were informed that Canberra was very busy and there was little space there.  In fact, we booked the last site at Alivio.

What a surprise. The once “Canberra Motor Village” is now somewhere that you want to stay at.  The sites have been levelled and a lot of work done to the overall infrastructure.  We were setup in no time at all and very happy.

Later in the afternoon we visited other friends and had a Turkish meal with them.

We were “home” by 9:30am and soon ready for bed after a long day.
