We decided to purchase breakfast at the caravan park and as a result, we enjoyed juice, bacon & eggs, bread and coffee. The cost, very reasonable for a buffet.
We then made arrangements to visit some other friends in Canberra (they also had joined us on our big adventure last year). With a little time to spare before meeting our friends, we drove to Lake Burley Griffin and stopped at The Carillion to take some pictures. The conditions were perfect for photography and later in the day, when we finally saw the results on a computer, we were both very pleased with what we had taken.
Our friends live to the south of Canberra. We spent a couple of hours with them before heading further south to visit the Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex at Tidbinbilla.
Next stop was to have a look at the new Cotter Dam which was followed by a trip to the Mount Stromlo Observatory.
With calm conditions present, we decided to stop at the Telstra Tower at Black Mountain and photograph Canberra as the sun set and the lights come on. On a previous visit, we struggled to go outside due to high wind and extreme cold. Today was near perfect. We took our pictures, watched sunset, took more pictures and then decided to check out the restaurant for our evening meal. It was closed.
Remembering we still had a couple of meals in our freezer, the decided to head home for our evening meal. However, we still had one stop to make and that was Mount Ainsley where we could view the street lights from the Australian War Memorial all the way to Parliament House. And that is what we did. Without a tripod it was difficult to get a clear “hand held” picture but we did manage to get some good video footage.
We enjoyed our frozen meals, watched the final of MKR and then more television until just before midnight.
