There were several activities that we could have been involved in, but we decided to “do our own thing”.
Our friend who joined us for our trip to the Great Ocean Road provided the transport today.
We had been told about an area call “Childers Cove” and that it was great scenery, and no one knew about it. Childers Cove was at the start of the Great Ocean Road at the Warrnambool end.
Our friend drove us there and we were amazed that the car park at the Cove was empty and other than signs about dogs, there were no restrictions as to what you could or could not do. This meant that there was nothing to prevent a drone flight over the area and a check of the CASA app confirmed that it was not a restricted area.
“He” flew the drone over Childers Cove as well as adjacent coves and was able to obtain some brilliant shots of the area. A little later we moved the car to another car park and once again, the drone was flown. Another couple who are members of our branch also arrived and flew a drone as well. We were surprised to see a police vehicle arrive and wondered if they would question us about the drone. Fortunately, “He” is registered with CASA, but the police vehicle passed by with the officers having little interest in what we were doing.
Later in the morning we visited Tower Hill, the site of an old volcano.
Returning to the caravan park, “He” spent a considerable amount of time with a friend who was having problems with a new caravan (heater). “He” was unable to solve the problem, but we came to the conclusion that the heater is faulty as we were able to eliminate all possible causes.
Again, we joined in Happy Hour with those attending the muster.
With the wind subsiding and there being no indication of rain, we cooked our evening meal outside on our new gas cooker.
After tea we had a quiet night watching television.
