Once again, the sound of birds and the early rising sun had us both awake before 6:00am. We did the same as yesterday and managed to doze until our alarm sounded at 7:00am.
A communal breakfast was planned for 8:45am today but we decided to have an early breakfast and then join the group with our coffee.
Immediately following breakfast, “He” asked the park staff for permission to fly one of our drones. The staff were informed of “His” s CASA licence and approval was granted. It didn’t take long to have the drone sitting at 100 meters above the ground and for the next 10 minutes, photographs and video was shot of the area surrounding the caravan park. The images taken are nothing short of brilliant.
After landing, another member of our group started to ask questions about using the drone for photography and that resulted in a short demonstration flight to show the operation of the drone as well as all of the safety features that are built into the drone.
We left the caravan park for a short time to purchase bread.
Over the past couple of days, we have had several visits from members of our group who have been looking at our caravan. One couple are considering a purchase for themselves, the other couple have been looking for their son.
After lunch “He spent time with one of our friends trying to sort a problem with a GPS tracker. “She” took the opportunity to have a rest in the caravan with the air conditioning running. Today has been the hottest day since we left Sydney.
In the middle of the afternoon clouds started to build to the south of our location. We were able to watch a storm build and thanks to the BOM App, we came to the conclusion that we would not be impacted. Later the storm did change direction and we all had to quickly stow awnings due to strong wind gusts. Today we made the wrong decision to stow the awning as the winds lasted for about 1 minute. Had we needed to rethink that decision, we would have made the same decision as it is easier to protect the awning rather than the process of an insurance claim and the inconvenience of having it repaired.
We didn’t receive and rain from this storm, but a second storm front did result in some heavy rain.
We had planned to go to markets at 5:00pm but the rain put a stop to that.
Our program for today indicated that the group would be having fish & chips for our evening meal. Orders were taken during the day and arrangements were made to collect the food at 6:30pm. We were then going to have our evening meal at the edge of Burrill Lake. We collected our food as arranged, “He” had snapper and “She” had honey prawn skewers, but due to threatening rain we all decided to eat in our RV’s. It started to rain again but that lasted only a minute or two. After enjoying our meal in the caravan, we poured a couple of glasses of wine and then joined the others between a couple of the caravans. “He” flew the drone to capture sunset. We finally returned to our caravan just before 9:00pm. We had not really done anything today, but we were both tired. We watched a movie and went to bed a little later than we planned too.
