As previously mentioned, the night was warmer than usual with all of our windows closed. It rained several times during the night, “He” woke but “She” just slept through the noise coming from our roof.
We were out of bed before 7:00am with 3 hours to prepare for a day trip to Central Tilba and then Cobargo for lunch.
The trip to Central Tilpa was sedate with the group travelling well under the posted speed limit. At Central Tilpa, we managed to find one of the last parking spots in town and that happened to be at the bottom of a long steep hill. We had morning tea in a nice café, and we left the town and travelled by Tilba Tilba before we returned to the highway.
As we headed towards Cobargo, we notice evidence of the fires earlier this year and once again, nature is rapidly working on regeneration. As was the case with Mogo, the media reported that the township of Cobargo had been destroyed by fire. That was not the case. Whilst we noticed that Blaze Aid was active in the area there was no real evidence of fire damage in the Cobargo township.
We had a fantastic lunch in the Cobargo Hotel, the meals were well priced and very generous. Shortly after we finished eating, it started to rain. We checked the BOM site and the radar and noticed a line of storms stretching over many kilometres. We were in the path of the storm front. The rain was extremely heavy and was accompanied by strong wind. A branch came off a tree in the car park but did no damage. We waited for the rain to ease and then headed carefully back to our camp site at Narooma.
The rain had stopped by the time we arrived at the caravan, but the surrounds were very wet. We decided to spend the remainder of the afternoon in the caravan but by the time that happy hour arrived at 4:00pm, the ground had dried and within the next hour, there was no evidence in the caravan park of any rain. Hopefully this will be the end of the line of storms that have been passing across NSW. In fact, the weather forecast is that the rain will be replaced by temperatures.
Towards the end of happy hour, it started to rain. Whilst we only had a few drops, we took the opportunity to head back to our caravan and gave another couple a tour of the caravan. This couple had done a lap of Australia in an Adria that was just a small amount larger. They were impressed with the current Adria offering. As they left, we noticed a smaller Adria caravan and we spent time talking to the owners. We will probably meet them tomorrow for a drink.
Due to having a big lunch, we had toasted sandwiches for our evening meal. We spent the remainder of the day watching television.
