26 November 2020 – Narooma to Berry NSW

We were awake at 6:00am to get ready for an 8:00am departure to our next stop at Berry for our annual ACC Christmas muster and AGM.

Our preparation today was well organised as we intended to stop at Burrill Lake and visit “her” cousin John. John & Trudy had been away when we stayed at Burrill Lake, so the plan was to leave Narooma well in front of our group, bypass the proposed morning tea stop at Milton and arrive in Berry close to the same time as the group we were travelling with.

The only problem we had in achieving the early departure was the discovery of several thousand ants located on top of a tarp that was stored in the front boot of the caravan.  “He” sprayed the entire bot but noted that the ant had stayed only in the left-hand side of the boot and there was no evidence that any of the ants had entered into the caravan.  Why the ants penetrated the caravan boot we will never know.  We were only delayed by abut 15 minutes and we left the caravan park close to 8:15am.

We had intended to arrive at Burrill lake by 9:30am but due to traffic enroute, wo stops due to roadwork as well as being caught by every traffic light, we arrive just before 10:00am.

We stayed for an hour and enjoyed morning tea with John & Trudy.

After departing Burrill Lake, we caught up with two of our group who had just left the morning tea stop at Milton.  We travelled with them through to our next stop at the Berry Showgrounds.

It was very hot when we arrived in Berry and the heat added to the time that was taken to prepare the caravan for our 6-night stay.

The plan was to attach our annexe to the caravan but after unpacking the annexe, “He” discovered that the part that connects the annexe to the caravan was missing.  Short of travelling home to locate the missing part (round trip of about 280k’s), we would not be using the annexe.  Hindsight would tell us that this would actually be a good move as extremely high winds over the coming days would have resulted in the annexe having to be taken down.

Later in the afternoon the group gathered under the canopy of several trees to enjoy our first happy hour.  To achieve social distancing requirement, the group broke into 2 groups.

Well after 6pm, we returned to the caravan and cooked kebabs outside on our griller for our evening meal.

We were in bed earlier than usual.  With roof vents and windows open, the night proved to be comfortable for sleeping.
