We left the caravan’s air conditioning running when we went to bed. It was our intention to run it for the entire night.
But that idea stopped at 2:00am. The wind had picked up during the night and the shaking of the van together with the noise from the air conditioning was hindering our sleep. Then at 2:00am, silence. The wind had abated and there was no noise from the air conditioning.
We had already experienced a power outage since arriving at Berry and as a result of that, we decided to run the refrigerator on gas. The refrigerator in the back of the car was running on 240v with battery backup.
Making sure that our circuit breaker had not tripped, just before “He” poked his head outside of the caravan, there was a knock at the door. Another member of the group was asking if “He” knew where the circuit breaker was for the caravan park. Other than the noise being generated from a couple of people who were lowering awnings, the night was silent and very dark. With another camper joining us, we checked all of the circuit breakers. A call was made to the camp supervisor and shortly after the call was made, a person walking through the campsite told us that the power was out for the majority of Berry.
“He” returned to the caravan just after 3:00am and not long after “He” returned, the power was restored.
After a couple of hours of comfortable sleep with the air conditioning running, we were up out of bed just after 7:00am.
We shopped at IGA today and for the first time in living memory, all that we purchased were fluids.
It was very windy during the day and nearby Nowra experienced a gust over 100kph. We believed that we had received similar wind gusts as one of our group who had gone out for lunch had two slightly opened windows blown out with the wind. Once again, we had a happy hour under the shade of the trees before heading back into the caravan for the benefit of air conditioning.
