12 August 2022 – Dubbo to Gulargambone NSW

As mentioned previously, it started raining overnight so our pack up in the morning was done in the wet.  He had to use 2 raincoats to stay dry.

The night had been warm with half of the blankets used on the previous night removed.

We departed just after 9:00am in a convoy of 2.  Several other members travelled together and a couple of other members travelled by themselves.

We drove the entire trip in rain stopping at Gilgandra for morning tea in a quaint café where the staff were overwhelmed with the numbers.

We continued in convoy (2) through to Gulargambone where we were finally parked on a piece of dry ground that would later turn into an island.

We had a quiet afternoon only leaving the comfort of the caravan to attend happy hour where the proprietor of the caravan park provided a delicious damper.  We had a long talk with a couple of people who knew us from Stone the Crows Festival, and they also knew about the CMCA Chapter, the Hilltop Rangers, the Chapter we had been a member of and had left due to their attitude.  It was not surprising to learn that nothing has changed with the Hilltops, they are still a self-centred group that have no idea about the friendships you can have with this lifestyle, they are only interested in their small group.  It is a pity that the CMCA Head Office have not dealt with this group and closed the chapter.

Returning to our caravan, we consumed microwave meals for tea, watched televisions (Better Homes and Gardens) before retreating to bed under the sound of the continuing rain.
