15 August 2022 – Lightning Ridge NSW

We woke to another lovely day with a maximum temperature of 17 degrees forecast.

Today our entire group agreed to visit the nearby Grawin Opal Fields.  For once we lead the convoy having visited this unique area several times in the past.

With our GoPro mounted to the window screen, we recorded the driving part of the trip inside of the opal field.

First stop was at “The Club in the Scrub”, that was followed by a stop at the war memorial, then the “Sheepyard Inn” before our final stop at the “Glengarry Hilton” where we enjoyed lunch.

The roads have not improved but due to recent rain, the dust level as low.

Returning to Lightning Ridge, we purchase fuel (received a 10cpl discount) then purchased groceries before returning to the caravan park and another performance by Mel & Susie.

We purchased a chicken for tea.

After sunset, he noticed that a turn indicator on the Navara was not working.  An inspection revealed that the globe had worked loose, and this may have been a result of the shaking today but more likely a result of having our headlight lamps replaced just before this trip.

With the temperature dropping rapidly, we spent the remainder of the evening in the comfort of the caravan.
