19 August 2022 – Moree to Sydney NSW

“He” was still feeling ill in the morning and with a trip intended to Gunnedah on Monday to see an elderly relative, “He” decided to do a RAT test.  Surprise, surprise, the RAT test was positive and for the first time in the past 2.5 years, COVID had entered our lives.  “She” was negative.

We decided that the trip was over for us and decided to start to head home with the intention of stopping within a couple of hours of Sydney.

It was sad saying goodbye to our friends and even sadder watching them leave and then the chatter on the UHF radios.

We left at 9:40am.

After leaving we attended to contact our doctor with the intension of obtaining anti-viral medication which could be collected by our family before we arrived home.  The surgery was closed and the 1300 number they provided by a recording was not available until the afternoon.  We finally contacted our Chemist and made arrangement for our family to collect medication that the Chemist felt would be best for us.

Sydney is 622klm from Moree and by lunch time, “He” had made the decision to drive the entire trip.
