22 March 2022 – Cessnock NSW

Neither of us slept well but after the alarm sounded at 7:00am, it took us 45 minutes to get up.  We had a quick breakfast having to be read for a 9:30am departure to the nearby town of Kurri Kurri where the group was assembling for morning tea.  We were delayed a little by roadwork but were second to arrive at the site, adjacent to “The Big Kookaburra”.

We spend a couple of hours having morning tea and the usual talk with our friends.  For once we were able to take some pictures of the beautiful park we were in.

We had pies from a bakery, they were not up to our standard, and to make matters worse, we had to pay in cash.  That is something very unusual these days.

We had to withdraw cash from an ATM before returning to Cessnock for another quick shop in Coles before returning to our camp site for happy hour followed by pizza and pie for tea.  At the conclusion of our evening meal, we played trivia and much to our surprise, we managed to win two of the four rounds and shared first position with another couple.  We misread the final question and we knew the answer.  That question would have given us a clear win.  We were given a nice bottle of wine that we will enjoy sometime in the future.

We slept better in the night masking sure we had an airflow through the caravan with our two roof vents left open.  That will not happen again with rain forecast for the next seven days.
