25 March 2022 – Cessnock to Sydney NSW

It was sunny when we awoke and the plan for today was for the group to enjoy pancakes in the camp kitchen before departing for lunch.

With heavy rain forecast for in the next 24 hours, our next-door neighbour informed us they had decided to leave and after a quick think about the current weather conditions, “He” decided that a departure today, one day early, would be a wise move.  Another couple also decided to take advantage of the current dry conditions and head home.

After informing the organisers of our decision, we pack and about an hour later we departed Cessnock.

On two occasions we encountered very heavy rain whilst travelling, one down poor requiring us to cut our speed by more than half simply to see the road.  Then as quick as the rainfall started, it stopped with no evidence anywhere that it had been raining.

The trip home was uneventful, and “He” parked the caravan in our drive without encountering any problems.  We were glad of our decision when looking at the weather radar and the rainfall over the area where we had been camping.
