We were able to pack up in the dry before departing Echuca in light rain.
The drive to Bridgewater was mostly in light rain. The further south we travelled, the better the weather conditions.
The trip to Bridgewater according to our GPSD was virtually straight. That might have been the case had we not came across a detour. One of the disadvantages of using a GPS in a non-familiar location is that without the GPS navigation, you really don’t have any idea where you are. And that was the case today as we headed west on what would be a 10 kilometres deviation.
Just before we turned back towards our route, a dump truck came up behind us so “He” called the driver to let him know that we would assist with him passing us. After the arrangements were made, the driver asked us where we were going. After informing him of Bridgewater, he told us to follow him as he was also passing through Bridgewater.
So, for the next half hour or so, we followed the truck on narrow road single lane roads, and we had ample warnings of when we needed to pull off the road to the left side and into the dirt to allow oncoming traffic to pass.
We arrived at our Bridgewater camping site about 11:30am after stopping at the bakery.
Set up took place between showers. After the rain stopped, “He” washed the mud off the caravan. It was very dirty on the left side, the result of having to leave the narrow roads when vehicles heading in the opposite direction approached us.
We had a quiet afternoon before happy hour and a welcome to everyone at 4:30pm.
Tonight, there was a sausage sizzle by Lions (who ran out of onion before everyone received first sausage).
We are camped in a pleasant location on the Loddon River.
Even though the night was warm, we had a good sleep.
