The alarm sounded at 7:00am but that did not stop us staying in bed until 7:30am.
With only 247 kilometres to travel today, we took our time having breakfast and preparing for departure. What we didn’t know was that an extremely northerly / north westerly wind was blowing and today we would record the highest fuel consumption since we started travelling on this trip and the highest consumption involving the Adria caravan.
When we eventually arrived in Hahndorf, the consumption was close to 18.3 litres each 100 kilometres.
We checked into Discovery Parks Hahndorf and were provided with a grassy site. The direction we were told to travel to the site made it difficult to reverse into the site. After persistence, we parked the caravan.
Once the caravan was disconnected, we drove back into Hahndorf where “She” purchased edible lavender that will be used in our ice cream maker. We also had a late lunch in one of the hotels and “He” enjoyed a half pint of German beer. We stopped at a general produce market located across the road from the caravan park and could only wish we had something like it in Sydney.
Returning to our camp site, “He” finished the setup connecting water and sullage.
After the late lunch, neither of us considered having an evening meal. We went for a walk and met some people from WA and after a lengthy discussion, we returned to the caravan where we watched television until 10:00pm. The caravan was comfortable inside and we expected that tonight would be the first time we removed our quilt.
