At 5:33am we woke to the sound of rain. It came and went for the next couple of hours and around 8:00am there was one massive clap of thunder. The weather forecast indicated the rain would stop mid-morning and that was accurate.
We had planned to visit a house owned by the daughter of one of our friends. The house was an old schoolhouse that has been restored and will be the subject of a television program called “Restoration Australia”. The program showing the restoration of the house will be aired in 2024.
We arrived at the property at 10:00am when arrangements had been made for one of the locals to show us the house. Irene arrived just before 10:00am and spend the best part of the next hour showing us the property. Words cannot describe what we saw and the only comment we can make is that we will wait to see the television program so we can see what this magnificent property looked like before the restoration commenced. The property now is sensational.
Leaving Irene and the Old School House at 11:00am, we drove to a business called “The Beerenberg Family Farm”. We have purchased produce from this business and the plan today was to have a look at what other product they sell. Being late in the morning, we decided to have an early lunch so we both enjoyed a pastie and salad washed down with coffee. Wanting to purchase some of the salad dressing, we asked about the dressing only to be told that the ingredients were a secret, and the dressing was not for sale.
Next, we had a look around Hahndorf and purchased some Christmas items before returning to our campsite. Later we returned to Hahndorf to refuel the Navara and find another business that “She” was interested in visiting.
Returning to our caravan, we did some housework (emptied the dunny) before calling our Grandson for his birthday.
Once again, after having lunch we were not overly hungry, so a simple tea of a ham salad was consumed.
Tomorrow is only a short trip to our destination where we will stay for 10 days. Somehow, we managed to watch television until just before 11:00pm when we retired.
