2 November 2023 – Canberra ACT

We set the alarm for 6:00am needing to have showers and breakfast before joining our friends for some planned activities.

We left at 8:40am to source diesel fuel with the Navara close to running on fumes.  We hit heavy peak hour traffic before navigating to Fyswick where we purchased the cheapest diesel available in the ACT.

Arriving at our friend’s apartment, “He” headed to a Probus meeting as a guest and “She” attended a meeting of the Ionian Club, a friendship group for ladies, also as a guest.  Both events involved lunches with us regrouping just after 3:00pm.  “He” finished early and with one of our friends, drove up to Mt Stromlo and the site of the observatory that was destroyed by fire many years ago.  It is now disappointing that the visitor’s centre has closed even though the observatory is still in use for scientific instruments.

We left our friends apartment just after 5:00pm and eventually found our way back to the caravan park.  This was after having to find our way out of one of the large circular roads that Canberra is famous for.

We had an evening meal in our refrigerator but due to the lateness and our desire to be ready for an early departure tomorrow, we dined in the café at the caravan park.

The night was cool, and we watched television for a short time before retiring to bed.
