With just over 200 kilometres to travel today, we were in no real hurry to depart, however, the dark black clouds coming from the west forced a hurried pack-up (externally) but the rain started just before the pack-up was completed. “He” sheltered in the car until the rain stopped and we completed the pack-up quickly with more threatening weather in the distance.
We put our destination into the GPS, and it came back with 3 alternative routes. We chose the shortest.
Leaving Naracoorte, we experience intermittent rain showers with dark cloud to our south. We crossed into Victoria and continued on a minor road. Just after a small town called Edenhope, the GPS gave instructions to turn to the right and soon we were travelling on a very narrow road just wide enough for a single vehicle. The GPS had us travel on numerous single lane roads before we finally returned to the Western Highway. We had been afforded a trip through rural Victoria on great roads with no traffic and wonderful scenery.
As we arrived at Halls Gap, the rain started again and the staff member in reception told us this was the second heavy shower of the day.
We setup quickly and then discovered we were not given a key to the ensuite unit. “She” retrieved the key whilst “He” disconnected the caravan from the car.
We were disappointed with an establishment that is branded “NRMA”. Our ensuite has a dirty floor and the door is damaged. Other ensuite look to better maintained, however, we can only comment on our experience. We would have expected better.
Later in the afternoon we assisted our neighbour setup. They were on their first outing in a brand-new camper.
We purchased a couple of meat pies and a sausage roll for our evening meal with the intention to reheat in the microwave.
During the afternoon we had more patches of rain and wind including light hail that had been forecast.
Both feeling very ordinary, we decided to head to bed after tea and watch television in bed.
