26 October 2023 – Halls Gap VIC

We decided not to set an alarm and we remained in bed until 8am.  It had been a restless night but we both needed the rest.

The rain ceased during the night as had the wind.  When we emerged, we were greeted with a fine but cloudy day.

We called our friends in Melbourne and suggested that due to us having colds, it would be best if plans to have dinner or lunch with our friends and parents be cancelled.  We still have every intention of visiting the Diamond Valley Railway on Sunday.  Our friends are heading to Queensland on Monday so we will have a free day.

Later in the morning, we jumped in the car and headed into The Grampians.  First stop was the lookout known as Reed Lookout and Balconies.  This was followed by Mackenzie Falls and finally a stop at Wonderland.  This part of Australia has magnificent scenery all packed into a relatively small area.  This was the third time we have visited this area and the second time we have stayed in Halls Gap.

We returned to our caravan for lunch and due to our current health problems, a quiet afternoon.

Later in the afternoon we decided to purchase our evening meal from “The Village Fryer”.  They offered grilled fish, so we decided to have flathead.  The fish was small but tasty and our small serve of chips was so large we could not eat all of them.

As was the case with the previous night, we headed to bed early with the alarm set for 7:00am on the following day.

We both slept better with our coughing slowly improving.
