The rain stopped just after sunset, and we were only aware of one shower overnight.
It was dry when we poked our heads out of the doors and there was blue sky everywhere. Apparently, any residual rainfall was to our south.
Planning to leave at 8:30am, we took our time, and it was 9:00am when we departed. We had to drive several kilometres before we found ourselves on a ring road which in turn, lead us to the Hume Freeway and the road home.
We called a close friend to wish him a happy 71st birthday. We are all starting to get old in body, but we are still young in mind.
The traffic was light, and we had an easy run to north of Glenrowan where we stopped for lunch. To this point, we had experienced a slight tailwind and for once, reasonable fuel consumption. After eating lunch, we continued our trip North and left the freeway to head to Beechworth and the Billsons Brewery where we purchased twelve (12) cans of flavoured vodka and six (6) bottles of Billson’s cordial.
Back on the road again, it became apparent that we were not going to the caravan park we expected to stay at. Later we would learn that there are two (2) Discovery Park Lake Hume, one with Victoria at the end, the other with NSW. We thought we were going to Lake Hume Victoria but that was not the case.
Nevertheless, we arrived at Lake Hume NSW and were allocated a site close to the amenities block. There were only two (2) caravans on the site. This location is deemed to be a resort, but it requires a lot of work.
“He” had several telephone calls during the afternoon that lead into our evening meal which we had purchased yesterday. Television was the evening entertainment.
We could only see one other caravan, so a quiet night was expected.
