For our first night away from the bed at home, we both managed a reasonable nights’ sleep. The combination of an open vent, a cotton blanket and the quilt made for a comfortable night, warmth wise.
We were in no hurry to leave as we could not get access to our next stop until midday. Taking our time, we left the caravan park at 9:00am only to find that we would be driving straight into a head wind for most of the trip. The car and caravan struggled with the wind and many hills we would normally take in fourth gear were taken in third gear. This happened all the way to Albury where we left the Hume Highway to head to Beechworth via Wodonga VIC. We noted that the Murray River was a little higher than what we have seen in the past and it was flowing freely.
We arrived at the Lake Sambell Caravan Park at Beechworth VIC just after midday and not long after, we had the caravan on-site and disconnected from the car.
Lunch was at the Beechworth Bakery and that was following by a walk around Beechworth and a trip to Billsons Distillery where we purchased a bottle of their cordial and a four can pack of Vodka flavoured with musk.
We telephoned some friends in Melbourne to discuss when we could meet for a meal. Tomorrow we will finalise these arrangements.
Returning to our caravan we obtained a cable to connect our television to an external antenna. The remainder of the afternoon was quiet watching television and relaxing. We had a couple of light showers of rain during the afternoon.
Our evening meal consisted of the remainder of the chicken we purchased yesterday and that was supplemented by some chips purchased in Beechworth and a can of the vodka.
We watched television until 10:00pm.
