6 May 2024 – Belmont NSW

We heard rain during the night, and it continued for most of the day.

A weather APP on the phone indicated that the rain would ease around 10:00am but that was incorrect.

Having plans for breakfast with the group at a nearby coffee shop, we got out of bed immediately the alarm sounded.  Wirth rain falling, we used the onboard facilities.  At least we had managed four days without using our toilet.

We collected our friends at 8:30am and drove to Marks Point for breakfast at Papatya.  We had booked on the previous day, but the café was totally unprepared for us.  Staff had not arrived, and our coffee orders were delivered by a regular who had decided to help.  I don’t remember when our food orders were taken but it took over an hour to deliver an overcooked bacon and egg roll.  They also exhausted their supply of bacon.  We acknowledge that we were about 30 in number, but they were totally unprepared for us.  We will not return here with a large group.

Returning to the caravan park, further planning was undertaken with the proposed trip.

Later in the afternoon we played a card game with friends before driving to the Gunyah Hotel at Belmont for a great evening meal.  Serves were generous and everyone had a good time.

It was at the hotel that it was announced that our Christmas muster would be held at the Belmont Caravan Park rather than the originally proposed Mannering Park site.

“He” needed to engage 4WD to back the car out of wet grass.

There were stars shining when we arrived back at the caravan park, but we did experience more rain before heading to bed.
