Well, last night was very interesting as we managed to create a fair deal of warmth in the caravan with our aircon prior to heading to bed. The temperature at the door rose to around 23 degrees and the appropriate action was taken to remove the doona when going to bed. At 3am “He” woke up freezing and not long after that, “She” was awake chasing blankets.
We set the alarm for 7:30am, got out of bed at 8:00am and departed the caravan at 10:30am for a day trip to the Corin Forest where we planned to have a picnic lunch.
First stop was at Costco for fuel which was around $0.20 cpl cheaper than other fuel sellers. Then onto the Corin Forest where there is a manmade ski slope and due to the NSW school holidays, the area was packed. We managed to find parking and then grabbed the bag with sandwiches and drinks and headed towards some seating to watch the antics on the snow. Within seconds of sitting, it started to rain so we quickly headed back to the car for lunch.
Leaving the carpark, we turned right and travelled up the Corin Dam road to eventually arrive at Corin Dam. It was freezing cold and after exiting the car to take a couple of pictures, we headed back past Corin Forest to return to our campsite.
We had a quiet afternoon catching up on email and listening to the rain falling on the roof of the caravan from the passing showers.
Just after 5:00pm, we headed to “The Verandah”, the onsite restaurant / bistro, where we changed our pizza order to a ham and pineapple. For the third night in a row, we purchased a local craft beer to sample with the pizza. Service was quick and we were back in the caravan before the 6:00pm news. We received an SMS from the caravan park inviting us to watch the State of Origin league game with drinks at happy hour price. We decided not to attend.
Later that night, we watched the State of Origin which turned out to be a super game with the right result for those who live in NSW.
We were in bed well before 11:00pm for the best night’s sleep since leaving home. The trick tonight was that we had not heated to caravan and relied on the retained heat from the day and then our blankets for the night.
