26 July 2024 – Warrandyte VIC

Several days ago, we decided to visit friends who live at Kinglake, about 45 minutes from our campsite.  Chrissy and Bob with others were responsible for the “Stone the Crows” festival that we attended on eight occasions.  We tried to visit on our last visit to Melbourne, but our calendars had not aligned.

Our plans today were to travel to Kinglake arriving around 12:30pm and then have fish and chips for lunch.

We set the alarm for 8:00am but “He” was out of bed to turn the alarm off before it sounded.

With the arrival time at our destination in the early afternoon, we did take our time to have breakfast and then dress for the day.  For once the weather was fine with very little wind.

We left for Kinglake at 11:30am taking the scenic of the three routes that our GPS had suggested.  The final part of the trip was up a windy road that we had travelled before.  Estimated travel time, about 45 minutes.  Unfortunately, our GPS would not accept the address of our destination, so we simply entered Kinglake.  Other than the application of brakes for a car on the wrong side of the road passing cyclists on a blind corner, the trip was uneventful and slow.  We arrived at our destination at 12:27pm, 3 minutes early.

After sitting to renew our relationship with Chrissy and Bob, “She” and Chrissy drove back to Kinglake in Chrissy’s Teslar whilst “He” and Bob had a look at their Adria caravan and the modifications that Bob had made.  They have a smaller caravan than we do, and the comment was made that they regret not having purchased the same caravan that we have.

Our discussions continued over our lunch of fish and chips then coffee and we finally started our trip home at 4:00pm.  Before we left Chrissy gave us a painted logo of the “Stone the Crows” festival and we believe it may be the early prototype of the final logo used for that festival.

After we returned to our campsite, we carefully packed the painting for transportation back home.

Once again, we had sandwiches for our evening meal and the sandwiches were supplemented with a custard tart.

We watched television late into the evening.
