29 July 2024 – Warrandyte to Wodonga VIC
We were not bothered by the overnight rain and were happy to get up when the alarm sounded at 6:30am.
We were not really in any hurry to leave and planned a 9:30am departure.
During the pack-up of the caravan, the cover on our water inlet broke and cannot be repaired. The pack-up was done in relatively dry conditions and “He” managed to wash the mud off hoses and steps.
We did leave at 9:30am and drove in mist and light rain until near Seymour.
We stopped at a service centre near Benalla for lunch and then continued to Beechworth where we stopped at Billson’s Brewery where we purchased a heap of cordials for ourselves and family. “She” also purchased some meat pies from the Beechworth Bakery for our evening meal. That would be another opportunity to use our new air fryer.
Later in the afternoon we arrived in Wodonga at the Big 4 Borderland caravan park. We had booked a drive-thru site, and we were very happy to see a hard surface to camp on and no mud in sight.
We did a super quick set-up, and “She” was able to remove most of the accumulated mud from inside the caravan. The same was done with hoses and other items exposed to the mud in Melbourne that had not been cleaned.
“He” was able to speak with a company who specialise in parts for European vans (Silverlining Services in Vic) and was able to find (subject to measuring) a replacement for the broken part.
We ran the aircon for a while to heat the caravan and turned it off well before heading to bed later in the evening. Prior to going to bed, “He” made sure that where possible, our external hoses were placed under the caravan to reduce the risk of freezing as the morning temperature was forecast to be negative.
