Our alarm sounded at 6:45am and for once we didn’t touch the sleep function and we both got up. For some reason our morning departure routine went smoothly as we are getting use to the caravan routine.
The concern about starting the car disappeared when the car roared into life on the first attempt.
Leaving the camp site in the second group, we knew that the drive today would only be short with our next overnight stop Corryong, just 52 klm down the road. We travelled at a very leisurely speed stopping at Walwa and then Tintaldra which is on the Victorian side of the Murray River. After leaving Tintaldra, we had glimpses of snow on the distant mountains in NSW.
After arriving in Corryong, we parked in the street and headed into one of the cafes that was open where we enjoyed a late morning tea. Leaving the café, we drove to the Corryong Recreational Reserve arriving first and having the choice of any spot we liked. The overnight spot is a massive site that was netball courts in a previous life. There is no power, water, toilet, nothing other than a big area that would be great if it was raining. Fortunately, the sun was shining so we were able to partially charge the battery that has been running the refrigerator in the back of the car.
We watched the Sydney Swans get destroyed in the AFL Grand Final before participating in a happy hour where discussion about the Grand Final was banned. We are comfortable in the current location, and we head to a showground tomorrow where we have full amenities and power.
We cooked outside on our butane stove but had trouble controlling the hear. Even with the cooker on the absolute lowest setting where is remained on, the chicken schnitzel managed to burn. It is unclear why or if it related to the Ikea frypan that we were using.
There was little to watch on tele vision so we chose the NRL game between Penrith and Cronulla. At the conclusion of that game, we changed channels and watched the end of the movie, The Martian.
We had our latest night to bed since leaving home with the time showing 11:30pm when we turned off the light. The caravan was warm so it was a doona and sheet for the night.
