29 September 2024 – Corryong to Tallangatta VIC

We got out of bed as the alarm sounded and went through the normal process breakfast and packing to depart.  “He” took some pictures of the area we camped in, and other members also ask for all the males to stand in front of vehicles and more pictures were taken.

As planned, we departed at 9:00am and had a sedate trip on the Murray Valley highway to Tallangatta.  The final part of the trip involved a discussion on UHF channel 18 with a vehicle that was following us.  A family of four was heading home to Mildura and we had a lengthy discussion with them before taking the turn towards to showground.  We decided not to go directly to the showground but headed to IGA where we purchased a couple of items that were needed.

Returning to the showground, we paid our $25 camping fee and headed to where four members of our group had established camp.  It didn’t take long to place the caravan into a location where little was required the caravan.  Soon we were connected to power and water and there is a small toilet block about 40 metres from where we are stopped.

Special sandwiches for lunch (we cannot have this at home due to a family member having a nut allergy) and then a short time sitting in our chairs taking in the ambience of the location.

Later in the afternoon one of our members cooked a damper which was really nice to eat.  We were finally driven back into our caravan when it started to rain at 5:00pm.  This was expected and tomorrow is expected to be dry.

Possibly for the first time, we cooked our meal in a frypan inside the caravan. We spent the remainder of the evening watching “The Voice” and then “Spotlight” where we wanted to see the story on Jack Thompson.

By the time we went to bed, the inside of the caravan was sitting at 22.00c and the rain had stopped as predicted.
