Our alarm sounded at 6:45am. “She” slept a little better last night and managed to stay in bed until about 4:30am when coughing forced her to get up and spend the last couple of hours sleeping by sitting in the dinette.
Our departure process went smoothly, and we left the caravan park at exactly 9:00am. We had a couple of options to travel to Wagga Wagga and it was a flip of a coin as to what route to take. We chose a road that would take us into an area that we had not yet travelled in. That proved to be a bad decision as the first 80k’s of the trip was impacted by a headwind and we watched the fuel consumption slowly rise. After departing the Murray Valley Highway at Cobram, we had the benefit of the tail wind, and it was very pleasing to watch the fuel consumption drop.
We had intended to stop for lunch at one of the towns we passed through, but it was difficult to find parking within walking distance of shops. We decided to drive through to Wagga Wagga and we had lunch in the caravan after arriving at the caravan park and finishing our setup.
The afternoon seemed to disappear and before we knew it, the clocks showed 5:15pm. Deciding to have Chinese for our evening meal, we first refuelled the car at the cheapest service station in Wagga Wagga that was located adjacent to the caravan park. $1.559cpl for diesel is almost the cheapest price we have paid since leaving Sydney.
We found a Chinese take-away called “Kung Fu Dumpling” and we both agreed that the food was exceptional.
We were both tied but managed to stay up until “She” took cold tablets close to 9:30pm.
Canberra tomorrow.
