9 October 2024 – Wagga Wagga to Sutton NSW

The alarm sounded at 6:45am but we were in no rush to get away.  Saying that, we departed at about 9:15am and other than watching the fuel consumption escalate due to wind, we had an uneventful trip to Sutton after passing through the ACT.

The caravan park of choice is the Eaglehawk Park, a site we stayed at many years ago.  We now rate this caravan park as close to the worst park we have stayed in.  The sites are narrow, with raised concrete edges protecting a drop, untidy, our water outlet was hard to find, no apparent spot for grey water and a hefty fee of $55pn. The site next to us has a big tree in the drive into the site so you need to manoeuvre around the tree and then straighten the caravan.  We are still trying to work out how to get to the amenities block which is behind us without a long walk around the roads.  And did I mention a step that was hard to see that has resulted in “He” grazing his arm.  Far from happy but at least the site was long enough to stay hitched and is about 15 minutes closer to Sydney than our Canberra site of preference..

We walked to the adjacent Eaglehawk Hotel and had steak sandwiches for lunch.  Returning to the caravan we spent the remainder of the afternoon trying to work out who to insure our home with as the current insurer, QBE, has increased the premium by about 20% without explanation and without wanting to reconsider or price match their competition.  We will not be renewing the policy having found a cheaper alternative with, much to our surprise, the NRMA.

“He” spoke to our medical practice to find out their requirement for us to organise an appointment as we are still not well.  They want us to have a COVID test on the day of the appointment so we will organise that when we get home.

Later in the afternoon our neighbours managed to lock their car key inside their car.  We came to the rescue with our tool we use to get to items deep in the boot of our ute.  “She” reckons we have “paid forward” for the help we were given with the adventure we had with our rear struts.  Just goes to show……..

We had what we call our “jumbo meals” for tea but neither of us enjoyed the meal.  I think that the steak sandwiches we had for lunch should have been enough with having another large meal.

We watched a bit of television before going to bed with the alarm clock set for 6:30am to give us the chance of an early departure.
